It has been almost a week since Google announced its Google+ project and if you have not heard about it, Google+ is Google Inc‘s attempt to make their network more social and make sharing on the web more like sharing in real life. Google+ service will initially be available only to a select group of Google users who will soon be able to invite others, will let people share and discuss status updates, photos and links. Right now invitations are closed as of writing this article, but we expect it resume inviting sooner.

The 5 major features of Google +
- Circles: You share different things with different people. So sharing the right stuff with the right people shouldn’t be a hassle. Circles makes it easy to put your friends in one circle, your parents in another, and your boss in a circle by himself – just like real life.
- Hangouts: With Hangouts, the unplanned meet-up comes to the web for the first time. Let specific buddies (or entire circles) know you’re hanging out and then see who drops by for a face-to-face-to-face chat. Until teleportation arrives, it’s the next best thing.
- Instant Upload: Taking photos is fun. Sharing photos is fun. Getting photos off your phone is pretty much the opposite of fun. With Instant Upload, your photos and videos upload themselves automatically, to a private album on Google+. All you have to do is decide who to share them with.
- Sparks: Tell Sparks what you’re into and it will send you stuff it thinks you’ll like, so when you’re free, there’s always something cool to watch, read, or share.
- Huddle: Texting is great, but not when you’re trying to get six different people to decide on a movie. Huddle turns all those different conversations into one simple group chat, so everyone gets on the same page all at once. Your thumbs will thank you.
Our Take on Google +
Google+ has already received lot of reviews and the invitation to this is in serious demand among the internet users, Google already owns two social networks: Orkut and Buzz which are both a major flop for Google from emerging to top spot on the Social Networking arena. Google + takes the best parts of twitter following popular tweeps without requesting for permission, mobile aspects and also takes the best aspects of Facebook with posting different contents (text, link, video, photo and locations) and sharing each message to a particular group of people with what is called as Circles. Though it has great things, it still needs a lot to beat Facebook as a social network, which is already close to 1 billion users itself. Having application platform for Google + will leverage Google’s fight with Facebook.

200 iOS applications by Great Innovus Solutions
Great Innovus Solutions is pleased to announce that we have got approval of our 200th iOS (iPhone, iPad, Universal applications) application submitted for Apple’s iTunes AppStore on behalf of our various clients. We have been working with Apple iPhone/iPad/iOS development platform since its launch in March 2008. We achieved a milestone of submitting 11 apps and all approved for iPad Grand opening in June 2010 (details here).
Great Innovus Solutions have been successful in developing iOS applications that utilize various technologies like: GPS based location, Touch and multitouch interactive applications, Internetworked applications, Open GL based animated applications, interactive ebooks, interactive games (puzzles, board games, bowling games), Accelerator and Gyrometer utilizing applications, camera and photo album applications, general utilities, multitasking applications with background, PUSH notifications, in-app purchases, audio/video recording, video playback, video streaming, social networks, REST, XML and web based applications.
Our experience with Apple has always been pleasant with shortest approval happening in 3 days and longest in 18 days. Nearly 99% of times application we submit gets approved in first review itself, only very rarely our submissions has been rejected (this is large compared to the industry average rejections rate). Cascarones, hollowed out egg shells filled with confetti, are very popular during Fiesta and Easter in some parts of the world. It is said that you get good luck if a cascarone is cracked on your head. Our client had an idea to bring this real life fun to the digital world as an iPhone/iPad app.
The idea of the Cascarone app is for people to decorate a virtual Easter Egg on their iPhone or iPad with colors, stripes, and designs. The user can then shake his phone and the egg will crack along with mariachi music playing. This is perfect for any Fiesta party where either you run out of real cascarones or you are at a place where you can’t make a mess! You can also load a friend’s picture into the app and the egg will crack on them!
Cascarone app was built for Fiesta San Antonio (http://www.fiesta-sa.org/) that draws 3.5 million people each year to the event. Thanks to our client Mr. Garrett for considering us to create the app and thanks to the developers at Great Innovus Solutions who have put immense efforts in developing the app on time. Additionally, thanks to Apple for considering the expedited review request and getting the application approved at the beginning of Fiesta.

We are pleased to announce the winning of our client app Joketeller at the “Facebook Applications Challenge, Brazil edition“, it won first place (unfortunately since it is a Brazil event, the news site is in Portuguese, you can get a translation here) and the web app owner received a sum of US$ 3000 as prize. We would like to congratulate our client on this win and also kudos to our team members Mahaboob Ibrahim and Gnanaghuru that put great efforts in making it a grand success.
Joketeller is a simple app that allows users to share jokes on facebook, a user can submit a text, image or voice record a joke live from his computer under various categories and grade their jokes. Other users are free to rate, share or embed this joke on their site. This facebook app used various technologies including but not limited to PHP, Flash, Red5, mySQL, facebook API, XHTML, AJAX and CSS. Much advanced coding techniques were used to implement asynchronous voting from flash, better embed on websites and clarity voice recording live from a computer. We really enjoyed working on this project and also the winning news only adds much joy.
Though the results of this app were announced back in March 16, 2010, we were notified only today hence a late announcement. Though this facebook app was a simple one, we have done several complex facebook applications for other clients for their social media promotion, social presence and interactive social web apps. We are proud to announce that Apple Inc, has approved 11 applications for iPad developed by Great Innovus Solutions for the “Apple iPad Grand Opening” on April 3, 2010. Apple had approved only 2,546 apps for the Day 1 sales (source: Fortune CNN) and our contributed/developed apps account to 0.43% of all approved iPads apps for Grand Opening. Also this makes us the iPad developer that got all apps submitted approved for the grand opening that translates to 100% approval ratio. We are very happy to have Apple approve all our apps and having a grand opening for iPad. Most of these apps were started after March 9, 2010 after Apple begun accepting iPads apps for inclusion for grand opening. Our iPhone/iPad development team did a very great job in creating, testing and submitting all these 11 apps, taking part in the review process with multiple builds submission for about 23 days working on weekends too – kudos to our team! Special mention goes to Dileep, Rama Sundaram, Raja for staying late and taking great responsibilities.
